Announcing the Second Cohort - Starting in October 2025 at the University of Bern!
Following the successful completion of the first cohort and an overwhelming feedback by both lecturers and participants (healthcare professionals), the University of Bern is pleased to announce the launch of the second interprofessional Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Medication Safety.
This continuing education program is accredited by FPH and SIWF and will commence in autumn 2025.
Background:
Medication-related problems remain one of the most prevalent and preventable causes of patient harm worldwide, and addressing this challenge is a priority for healthcare systems across the globe. In response to this pressing need, the CAS in Medication Safety equips healthcare professionals with comprehensive knowledge, practical skills, and a strong professional network to identify, prevent, and manage medication-related risks within their institutions.
Curriculum:
The curriculum of the CAS in Medication Safety is specifically designed for healthcare professionals (pharmacists, nurses, medical doctors, and others) who wish to expand their knowledge regarding the safe use of medications AND enhance collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The training provides substantial benefits for daily pharmacy practice looking at (among others) facts & numbers, risk management tools and practices, process improvement, technologies in medication processes as well as aspects associated with impactful leadership and team education. Interprofessional networking is at the heart of the program, facilitating direct exchange between different healthcare professions — a key factor in improving medication safety and patient safety in general.
